Arable

Our 1,200 acres of crops include wheat, barley, oilseed rape, oats and fodder crops for our sheep. Our wheat makes bread and animal feed, and oilseed rape produces wonderful golden oil. We harvest and store all our crops here on the Estate and market them ourselves.

We integrate precision farming techniques across all arable land, using GPS auto-steer, variable rate seed, fertiliser and lime, and drone imagery throughout the season. This enables us to precisely apply inputs where and when required, ensuring applications meet demand. We can identify less productive fields using yield mapping and dedicate these areas to environmental schemes which benefit wildlife.

We produce 10,000 tonnes of compost annually which we use ourselves as soil conditioner but also allow local farms to collect free of charge.
